Handloom Ikat Yardage
The uniqueness of the ikat technique does not allow master to create two identical fabrics! That is why they may come a bit different in colors and patterns.
Ikat fabrics are hand-dyed and hand woven on hand looms – that is entirely handmade! So they often have what would be considered imperfections, ie flecks of other dye colours, looped yarns and what appear to run. Also, white stripes comes every two meters (pattern repeat) in the fabric. This is the inherent beauty of a complete hand woven and dyed fabric.
Fabric is sold by meter. A meter is measured as 39 inches in length. For example, if you purchase 1 meter of a fabric with a width of 16 inches, you will receive a piece of fabric which is 39 inches long by 16 inches wide.
The narrow width of this fabric makes it well-suited for table runners, pillow covers, as well as window treatments, bed scarves, and more. This playful mix of colors will be a fun addition to a range of decorating styles from traditional to modern.
